One might begin to counter by saying, \u201cBut Jesus never said, \u2018I am God.\u2019\u201d While that may be true in that this is not a direct quote of Jesus, there are many other verses to be quoted that do make this clear.<\/p>

Let\u2019s one of my personal favourites, John 8:58. \u201cJesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.\u201d <\/p>

What an incredible statement! Need we say more? Not only is Jesus saying that his existence began before Abraham was born, He uses the very name that God claimed when He spoke to Moses. Also, his use of tense infers that He is not bound by time like man is. Therefore, Jesus could not have been clearer to the Jews that He was speaking to.<\/p>

Jesus was and is God. <\/p>

There was no mistaking what He was saying. The Jews who heard Jesus picked up stones in the following verse to stone Him!<\/p>

In addition to this evidence of our Saviour transcending time, look at Hebrews 1. It starts by saying three things: <\/p>

God has spoken to us through His Son <\/p>

Jesus didn\u2019t just preach a message, He was the message - Emmanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23)<\/p>

This Son is Jesus and God has made Jesus heir of all things<\/p>

He is eligible for this because He is \u201c...the firstborn of every creature,\u201d Colossians 1:15 <\/p>

God created everything by Jesus<\/p>

To quote the Enduring Word commentary, \u2018The ancient Greek word translated worlds is aion, from which we get our English word \u201ceons.\u201d It means that Jesus made more than the material world, He also made the very ages \u2013 history itself is the creation of the Son of God.\u2019<\/p>

I have always believed that Jesus is God but even now, writing this is refreshing my understanding, I am once again speechless at the incredible evidence God gave us.<\/p>

It is absolutely crucial to Salvation as a concept for Jesus, God\u2019s Son, to also be God Himself. If Jesus was only God\u2019s Son, or worse, just a good man, Salvation cannot work.<\/p>

God ordained for us to share in an infinite life with Him. But because of sin, we deserve an infinite life without Him. Only an infinite God could take on the infinite punishment for us and so Jesus, Emmanuel, became sin so that we might become the righteousness of that infinite God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)<\/p>

This is why we not only can but should refer to our Lord like Peter did for He is, \u201c...our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.\u201d (2 Peter 2:1)<\/p>
