Here\u2019s 7 ways that you can restore and maintain your peace.","content":"<blockquote><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/ay7ExuqUG29CBy4fxTjjbjA3VJPcuR4lJCBlJhs4imuLU80Z.png\" alt=\"ay7ExuqUG29CBy4fxTjjbjA3VJPcuR4lJCBlJhs4imuLU80Z.png\" \/><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Noto Sans', sans-serif, Arial;\">\u201cThou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.\u201d Isaiah 26:3<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">In a world that grows darker and overflows with wickedness in every corner, maintaining a state of peace as a Christian feels impossible.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">As I write this, I am personally struggling to not give into many things that are causing me stress. Like you, I have a human, \u201cfleshly\u201d nature and my responsibilities can be overwhelming.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">Husband, father, brother, employer, pastor\u2026 Just these relationships alone have weight some days.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">Right now, the eyes of the world are on the people of Turkey and Syria as they reel at the devastation caused by a natural disaster. There is little peace to be found as they struggle to find their loved ones amongst the rubble.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">When faced with such tribulation, a choice is presented: allow ourselves to cave into our feelings or raise our hands and draw strength from our God.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">I\u2019m preaching to myself a fair bit here! But I know that as I remind myself of what is truer than what I feel, I can share it with you too.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">As long as Jesus is at the right hand of God, there is peace for us so how can we attain it?<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">Here\u2019s 7 ways that you can restore and maintain your peace.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ol><li><p><strong><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">1. Submit again and again<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">It\u2019s not seen this way by many Christians, but anxiety is allowed authority over so many believers. However, we are instructed in Colossians 3:15 to, <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">\u201cLet the peace of Christ rule in your hearts\u2026\u201d <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">The first step for anyone who has lost their peace should be to kneel before our Lord and resubmit their heart like it says in James 4:7. <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">\u201cSubmit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.\u201d <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">This leads us to our second point.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><\/p><\/li><li><p><strong><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">2. Take authority<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">That verse in James tells us that once we have submitted, we can resist the Devil. We don\u2019t wait for God to step in and fight the author of our fears. He gave us authority through the Holy Spirit to do this. Stop tolerating Satan! Stand firm and exercise the power you have inherited because of Salvation.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><\/p><\/li><li><p><strong><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">3. Make a choice<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">Contrary to popular belief, your feelings are within your control. So many scriptures allude to this like Philippians 4:6 <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">\u201cDo not be anxious about anything\u2026<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">\u201d Jesus himself told us in his Sermon on the Mount that we shouldn\u2019t worry. Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit that we can manifest at any time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><\/p><\/li><li><p><strong><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">4. Focus on Him<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">According to the verse at the top of this post, the hard truth is that if you\u2019re too occupied with anything other than the Lord, your peace will ebb away. Yes, we have responsibilities but the vast majority of us are not balancing those responsibilities with time spent meditating on the character of our God. Keep your mind stayed on Him and receive the promise of perfect peace.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><\/p><\/li><li><p><strong><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">5. Get to praying<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">It\u2019s not a suggestion. Philippians 4:6 continues to say, \u201c...<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\"> Prayer is often poorly defined and represented. I\u2019m talking about a life-line communion with God. It\u2019s foolishness to unclip yourself from this spiritual harness when the danger of falling is so prevalent. Heed the command, <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">\u201cPray without ceasing.\u201d <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">1 Thessalonians 5:16-17<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><\/p><\/li><li><p><strong><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">6. Start praising<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">Scores of the Psalms are all about singing the praises of God. \u201c<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High,\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\"> is what David wrote in Psalm 7:17 yet we know he was heavily persecuted. This is because David knew the power of praise. He chose to keep the character of God as his focus and reminded himself continually of what the Lord had already done.\u00a0<\/span><br \/><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><p><strong><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">7. Look to the future<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">While we can remind ourselves of what the Lord has done, we can also have hope in our personal future. <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">\u201cBeing confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.\u201d <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">Philippians 1:6\u00a0 Jesus also promised us in John 16:13 that the Holy Spirit, <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">\u201c...will shew you things to come.\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\"> Your future does not need to be a frightening mystery. Spend some time in prayer and the Lord will give you vision.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol><p><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">I am once again reminded of the power there is in God\u2019s word for now that I have neared completion of this writing, much of my stress has faded. Praise his Name!<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\">You can be confident that if you only worked on just one above right now, you would begin to feel a change take place.
