Every now and then, as we seek the Lord, <\/span>we can have revelation<\/span><\/strong> on what we might consider the simplest of things. I had one of those this week.<\/span><\/p>

In Hebrew culture<\/span><\/strong>, when something is named, it is named around the said thing\u2019s function. This applies especially to people. We have a good example in the story of Creation with the names given to the first man and woman.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cAnd Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.\u201d<\/span><\/em> Genesis 3:20<\/span><\/p>

Also, <\/span>it is traditional for the father to name their children<\/span><\/strong> in Hebrew culture. We see this multiple times throughout scripture.<\/span><\/p>

These two points lend themselves so much to the words of the angel that visited Mary in Luke 1:31, <\/span>\u201c...thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>

The angel was bringing a message from God, the Father, that <\/span>this child was His<\/span><\/strong> and therefore He had the right to name it.<\/span><\/p>

The name was to be <\/span>Jesus<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Simply put, the word Jesus is the Latin form of the Greek Iesous, the transliteration of the Hebrew name <\/span>Jeshua meaning \u201csalvation\u201d<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

God\u2019s Son has always had a primary function and His name reflects this. Jesus, God in the flesh, was to be <\/span>the saviour of the world<\/span><\/strong>, fulfilling every law and prophecy concerning the promised Messiah and making a way for every one of us to be restored to our heavenly Father.<\/span><\/p>

Yet, <\/span>Jesus did not come to bring salvation<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Because His name is <\/span>still<\/span><\/em> Jesus. He was and is and is to come!<\/span><\/p>

Jesus didn\u2019t just bring salvation, dust Himself off and sit at God\u2019s right hand. <\/span>He <\/span>is <\/span><\/em>salvation!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

At any point, any one of us can call on the name above all names and receive power and freedom of the Gospel. Acts 16:31<\/span><\/p>

And even if you have already done so and received a new Spirit that\u2019s sealed for eternity, you can receive salvation in this present life. <\/span>Deliverance, healing and even the inheritance of Jesus are all ours<\/span><\/strong>. I hope you have received a similar revelation to myself from reading this today. There is a good reason for Jesus being known as <\/span>the name above all names!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>
