And if you’re a citizen of the Kingdom, then you have received access to life in abundance.

This word abundance is very important because it’s so much more than having a great quantity of something.

It means to overflow.

David understood and lived this. We see it in the famous words, “Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” Psalm 23:5

Abundance like this implies a few things:

A. there is a source

B. you will have more than enough and

C. you will continue to have more than enough.

There are many, many wealthy people in this world. They work/have worked for, or perhaps inherited their wealth. Those are their sources. But at any moment, a stock market crash, a global disease, a forest fire or even a large shipping vessel could block the Suez Canal.

Overnight, an income stream can be decimated. Overnight, a mansion can burn down. Overnight, millions can plunge in value.

This is not Kingdom abundance.

Kingdom abundance does not guarantee worldly prosperity like I have described above. Jesus said life in abundance.

But if that doesn’t mean wealth and comfort, what does it mean?

Firstly, Jesus is talking about eternal life and restoring the great divide that sin makes between God and man. God’s master plan was soon to take effect and the bridge would be open for anyone to cross that divide return to the Father through His son.

But that’s not all.

Eternal life applies to our spirit, however, this too-good-to-be-true-news that we call the Gospel was designed for human beings who are comprised of a spirit, a soul and a body. (See our previous blog post here.)

There is the eternal life in abundance but there is also the present life in abundance. Your relationship with God, your life of Kingdom abundance, does not begin in Glory but rather the moment you receive redemption through the Cross!

Right here, right now.

Kingdom abundance is this: overwhelming blessing attributable solely to God that does not remove your dependance upon Him.

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:9 that God has prepared blessing for you that no one has even conceived! Believe me, I know it to be true. I have tasted and seen Kingdom abundance time and time again!

So, now that we know what Kingdom abundance is, how do we encourage it to manifest? Here’s the key.

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us…” Ephesians 3:20

There’s that word again: abundantly. But the key I’m talking about is in that last phrase. Do you know what power is working in you? How much room does the Holy Spirit have in your life? How much do you know about the Holy Spirit?

Whatever answer you gave to those questions, I encourage you to seek God and invite him to renew your mind as it says in Romans 12. Do that, and your life in abundance from God will knock you off your feet!
