As he described his relationship with the Lord in Psalm 23, it\u2019s quite possible that <\/span>David had an early revelation of the fruit of the Spirit<\/span><\/strong> working within him, generations before Paul wrote to the early churches.<\/span><\/p>

It can be easy as post-resurrection Christians to take for granted our understanding of the Holy Spirit and the characteristics He develops within us.<\/span><\/p>

In David\u2019s time, he did not have the fully completed Word of God to have revelation from. Yet, through his sincere reverence and devoted love for the Lord, <\/span>he developed an intimate relationship with the Father<\/span><\/strong>. A relationship which meant he knew what it was like to walk in God\u2019s love and favour and to feel His Goodness and Mercy available close by every day.<\/span><\/p>

How much more should we, with far greater access to the Holy Spirit than David could have comprehended, be tuned into the Father\u2019s heart and experience the availability of His Goodness and Mercy?<\/span><\/p>

However, the Psalm says that Goodness and Mercy \u201cshall follow\u201d. They were not within David, overriding his human nature. And <\/span>it it is the same for us today<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

In Galatians 5, Paul lists the fruit of the Spirit. It also states, <\/span>\u201c\u2026walk in the spirit and and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>

Again, a principle of New Testament writing that David seemed to understand. <\/span>Achieving overflow from God does not begin with a focus on sin<\/span><\/strong>, but rather a choice to be aware of the fruit of the Spirit available within us.<\/span><\/p>

Only then do we begin to manifest our <\/span>\u201cnew creation\u201d<\/span><\/em>. 2 Corinthians 5:17<\/span><\/p>

This is not just a life-changing revelation affirmed by two mighty men of God, <\/span>it is a great affirmation to the consistency of God\u2019s word<\/span><\/strong>! Throughout, from Adam to Christ and beyond, His character and instructions are unchanged over thousands of years.<\/span><\/p>

Now that you\u2019ve read this, spend some time meditating on Galatians 5:16-25. The Lord is eager to bring these scriptures alive in you!<\/span><\/p>
