\u201cTherefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the House of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.\u201d Hebrews 10:19-22<\/p><\/blockquote>
When attending a cinema, theatre or sporting event there is normally an entry fee for a ticket. The seniority of those involved has a major impact of the price of the tickets. Outside the ground of football matches for example, touts have tickets for sale and they are usually sold for multiples of their face value \u2013 and yet the die-hards are willing to still buy them. However, it is unlikely that anyone would pay the price and then give the tickets away.<\/p>
<\/p>
Isn't it an absolute joy that we can enter the very throne room of the creator of the Universe knowing that the entry fee has been paid? Without a legitimate ticket for an event like those above, the turnstile is not going to click. As a born-again believer in faith in the Lord Jesus, there are no turnstiles to stop us. No security guards to check us. Just welcoming arms from a loving Father.<\/p>
<\/p>
I would like to point out a few amazing truths behind these words from Hebrews 10.<\/p>
1) We can have BOLDNESS. That means absolute confidence that we have the right to enter the throne room. This boldness comes from knowledge that someone else has already opened the door for us. Nothing in our own strength or ability did this. Only the blood of Jesus which paid the price and He CONSECRATED the way. I read that one definition of this word was that the way had been declared sacred and devoted irrevocably to the worship of God by a solemn ceremony. Only by being in His flesh (In Christ) can we enter.<\/p><\/li>
2) We can DRAW NEAR to Our Heavenly Father. We do not have to shy away, feel unworthy or keep our distance. There is no fear or rejection. WE can come, confess anything weighing down our hearts (1 Peter 5:7) and He lavishes us with His love to cleanse us.<\/p><\/li>
3) We can have FULL ASSURANCE OF FAITH. Faith is one thing \u2013 but this is something else. Nothing good we have done impresses God more to allow us in and nothing we've done wrong will deny us the privilege of entering. Full assurance is exactly that. Nothing missing, nothing taken away.<\/p><\/li>
4) Our fickle and deceiving hearts have been sprinkled from an EVIL CONSCIENCE. You may think that this word 'evil' means 'ungodly' or 'unworthy'. It means so much more! Behind the Greek word is a truth that says that God wants us to put behind us all our self-effort and works, thinking that we had an obligation to tick a few boxes to pay the entry price. No. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Strong's concordance actually says 'labours, annoyances and hardships.' Just leave the world and its effects behind and enjoy God's presence.<\/p><\/li>
5) God washes us with the PURE WATER. What is this? It is the Word of God. In John 15:3, Jesus says that we are already clean because of the word He has spoken to us. Each time a verse or truth comes alive to us, we are being cleansed.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
