There\u2019s SO much that I can say about this one verse. When my wife and I were dating, this quickly became what came to know as a \u201ccore\u201d verse for our future.<\/span><\/p>

There are foundations and essential principles for everything<\/span><\/strong>. For example, there are laws of physics that we are bound by and cannot change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

I was explaining the principle of gravity to my children this week. As they began to grasp the concept, we had some fun with it and began to discuss<\/span> what life would be like without gravity<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The idea of floating around seemed fun at first but then it became visible on their faces how concerning and potentially chaotic the world would be should gravity cease.<\/span><\/p>

Gravity is a law<\/span><\/strong>. I asked my children what would happen if they chose to ignore gravity and attempt to supersede it with their own will. Perhaps they might decide to attempt flight by jumping from a height. Of course, even my 2 year old, Sebastian, stated that he would fall and be badly injured.<\/span><\/p>

Very quickly, children learn that <\/span>they are bound by laws and principles that they cannot even describe<\/span><\/strong>. These are foundational to their existence. They protect them from harm as that awareness becomes instinct. Second nature.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cRespect gravity and you will be safe,\u201d<\/span><\/em> is how my oldest son, Jasper, concluded our discussion.<\/span><\/p>

I then took this opportunity to explain that <\/span>having the same respect for God\u2019s spiritual law is even more important<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Without it, we float.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

We have no direction or purpose.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Psalmist asks rhetorically, <\/span>\u201c...what can the righteous do?\u201d<\/span><\/em> <\/span>When you have no spiritual foundation, you are utterly helpless<\/span><\/strong> until you ground yourself once again in the Word of God.<\/span><\/p>

Sometimes, my family and I quote movie scripts. A single line of dialogue can encapsulate a situation and be so relatable that it just sticks in the mind.<\/span><\/p>

And this is how we exist, even as a believer, when God\u2019s Word is not <\/span>the<\/span><\/strong> <\/span>foundation of our life<\/span><\/strong>. This is how we will feel when God\u2019s Word is not <\/span>the source of our wisdom for the choices we make<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

\u201c...henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.\u201d<\/span><\/em> Ephesians 4:14<\/span><\/p>

No more bouncing off the walls!<\/span><\/strong> Ground yourself with the laws of God and, like you did as a child, build your instincts from what you learn.<\/span><\/p>
